OPSIDIA

MISSION

Michigan-based entrepreneur Racheal Allen created a nonprofit to equip and empower BIPOC business owners and needed identities for each of her operations.

IDEA

The first identity was for the parent company, Opsidia, which manages the functions for the primary entrepreneurship program, O School. Opsidia is a custom name combining the words “operation” and “obsidian.” The strength, fire, and power of the Black identity activated in an operational context is the basis for this brand architecture. The icon is a stylized “O” with an implied flame or rock protruding upwards to convey these uplifting concepts.

The home of O School is Centric Place (located in Farmington Hills, MI) and was designed to capture a blend between mid-century modern and contemporary professionalism.
