SADO
MISSION
SADO is Michigan’s State Appellate Defender Office responsible for helping convicted felons get a second chance and ensuring justice is actually served. They wanted a new identity to revitalize their presence in the courts and, most importantly, for their clients.
IDEA
SADO’s branding didn’t have much of an origin, but after great collaboration with them, we decided to embed meaning that they already have into the squares. These foundation squares represent their mission’s core values: access, advocacy, compassion, and education.
The square motif is the basis of their visual language, allowing them to be expressive for many contexts. Colors and typography were upgraded to be fresh, professional, and clean. Photography highlights their staff and client relationships. Overall, this new identity raises them above the bar even more.
